Be A Mentor
MENTOR
Are you an emerging filmmaker or a film professional who likes to teach?
Help Brooklyn Young Filmmakers create a low cost, intergenerational, filmmaking minor league, where Brooklyn teens and adults from low-income communities can get a firsthand introduction to the diverse careers in the film industry and how to network to get work.
We are looking for filmmakers representing all the diverse crafts, from producer to scriptwriter to cinematographer to director to actor to all the foot soldier positions in film (i.e. sets, props, make-up and hair, wardrobe, lighting, script supervising, 1St AD, sound, craft services/catering, storyboard artist, shoot photographer, and all else).
COUNT ALL THE WAYS THAT WE WANT YOU!
- Maybe you don’t have time to meet, but you are available to be a consultant and answer our questions by email.
- You are interested in meeting once with a BYFC student for a one-on-one interview.
- You’d love to coach a BYFC student who is doing your job on a BYFC film shoot!
- You can offer mentoring support on an ongoing basis to a student who is striving to get paying film work – and relive all the lessons you learned getting to where you are!
- You’re excited about organizing all those mental notes you’ve been making for years about your professional to give a presentation to a BYFC class.
- You love to plan and want to help us organize a seminar on your craft!
- You are hoping we will refer our most amazing BYFC students to you for internships or so you can pay them for being great workers!
