COMMUNITY FILMMAKING
The organizing structure for Brooklyn Young Filmmakers Community Filmmaking Project is the unique three class MAKE A FILM series, which takes participants through development of a short script, pre-production, and production, concluding with the shooting of a short film. BYFC invites a larger community to be part of the actual film shoot by: recruiting emerging filmmakers to head the camera and lighting departments; consulting with film professionals; holding a community Casting Call and Scavenger Hunt for shoot needs; and by recruiting members of the local community to be additional production assistants on the shoot. Our film projects are made with small grants, class fees, and lots of in-kind donations, including locations, set materials, props, wardrobe, and food.
